At Splendor Koi and Pond we are not fish doctors or veterinarian
but our business requires us to be able to spot and treat many
common fish health problems. If you have fish health or water
quality problems we recommend you contact a veterinarian experienced
in koi health. But if none are available, Splendor Koi and Pond
might be the next best thing.
Some commonly diagnosed koi ailments include:
Parasites--Anchor worms, Apiosoma, Chilodonella, Costia,
Fish Lice, Flukes, Ich
Bacterial Infections- Ulcers, Fin Rot, Internal infections
Fungal Infections-- Swimmers Gill, Cotton Ball Disease
Viral Threats-- Carp Pox, Spring Viremia of Carp, Koi
Herpes Virus
Poor Water Quality can be the start of alot of the above
ailments and should be the first thing checked when trouble
starts to occur.
We do not allow anyone to bring sick fish on our premises because
we will not jeopardize the health of our koi. We will, however,
make a pond call to come and try to determine the cause of your
problems. Based on our findings, we will be able to offer suggestions
and possible treatments to improve the health of your fish.
If you want us to administer the treatment, we will require
a waiver of liability. Unfortunately, due to the weakened condition
of your sick fish and the stress of treatment, sometimes the
fish do not survive.
Your first step for a pond call is to contact
us and we will work on a case by case basis to try and provide
assistance. Once we discuss the particular symptoms, we can
better able determine if we can be helpful, inform you of possible
causes, possible treatments, and the costs that might be involved
in that treatment.
